Story
I would like to share the two reasons I am doing the Liverpool Santa dash on 3rd December..........as I have never done anything like this before it's quite a big deal and a very high possibility I will fall over that's usually my party trick 😂. I know it's a busy and expensive time of year but please read these two stories and any little donations add up and will make a big difference.
My nephew Oliver is the bravest, funniest little boy I know. Every day he faces struggles in life most of us could never imagine but he always has a smile on his face and never complains apart from that he needs more new toys! Oliver has Alagille syndrome and as a result of this has liver disease. This is a rare genetic condition that can be inherited so is very close and personal to myself. To support Oliver I would like to raise funds for the children's liver disease foundation. It won't buy Oliver more toys (not that he needs any more) but it will help with research and continue to support families who's children have liver disease . 💙
The second reason is for Honor, a four year old who has spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy. As a result of this she can't walk. She is so desperate to do so, She has had intense physiotherapy for most of her life and has come on beyond our expectations. She's had 2 round of Botox to try help her which also hasn't worked liked they hoped. Last month Honors parents had a meeting in Alder Hey with a surgeon who gave the go ahead for a surgery called SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy ). This surgery involves cutting some of the nerve fibres in the spinal cord to reduce some of the spasticity in her legs. Although this operation is not guaranteed to make Honor walk, we are all hoping it will help. This surgery is not funded by the NHS and costs around £16000. Let's help this brave little girl become closer to her dream, a dream that for most of us, is something we take for granted each and every day, The ability to walk ❤️
