Story
I am running Cardiff Half Marathon (13.1 Miles) on Sunday the 1st of October.
I am asking for sponsorship to raise money towards new mobility equipment for Hettie.
Hettie is three and lives on the outskirts of Caerphilly in Nantgarw. She has a twin sister called Evelyn and two cats called Lina and Leui.
Hettie also has a condition called Spinal muscular atrophy type 2 (SMA II) SMA affects the muscles in the entire body.
The weakness starts centrally and works outwards. Without a cure Hettie will never walk and will only get weaker. So far for hettie, SMA has meant she has lost her ability to sit and roll, she cannot walk and her spine has started to curve, she has respiratory problems and is fed via a tube as the muscle weakness has caused her to lose her swallow.
SMA is a lifelong condition and is life limiting, we have no idea how long Hettie has on this earth. Some children with Type 2 can live long into their adult years and this is the hope for Hettie.
Hettie's family want to make her life as easy as possible, providing her with the best equipment.
Some help is available off the NHS however anything extra to give Hettie a better quality of life would be a big help to the family.
If you would like to donate to Hetties' fund then please do so, any amount is so gratefully received and will only go towards medical equipment and expenses.
The family are looking to buy a panthera bambino wheelchair which weighs only 5kg which will be light enough for her to propel herself giving her the most independence.
