Story

Yes, we are doing it again! We are running the Great Birmingham Half Marathon on 15th October to raise money for treatment for our amazing friend Katy Dawson.

Katy was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer while she was heavily pregnant with her second child. She underwent a mastectomy shortly before being induced to give birth at 38 weeks pregnant. She then started an intensive chemotherapy regime when her baby boy was just two weeks old. Her cancer is classed as triple negative, which is a rare form that only affects 15% of women.

Following active treatment there are currently no options available to prevent reoccurrence with this type of cancer. Therefore Katy needs funding to continue to go to a clinic in Germany where there are innovative treatment options including immunotherapy and genetic profiling of the tumour to target treatment. The treatment is expensive and will cost in excess of £150,000. Lots of money has been raised so far but more is needed to ensure Katy's cancer does not return. Katy is so appreciative of everyone's generosity which continues to give her hope that she will be for here for her children now and for a very long time into the future. Please sponsor us if you can, every penny counts and will make a real difference to Katy and her family.Thank you!
