I'm raising £2500 to commission a piece of music dedicated to Jon Audain

Story

Jon Audain was the Director of Music for the Warsash band for many many years. He was a passionate musician and dedicated leader who brought a group of amazing people together to create the community of wonderful music makers. He coached the band, inspired individuals and gave so much of himself to make the band what it is today.

Last year Jon lost his fight to cancer. He was diagnosed the year before and despite treatments and surgery he continued to lead the band right up to the end.

The band felt that Jon's dedication to music, education and the community needed to be remembered. After much discussion there was actually only 1 fitting tribute, a piece of music!

We have commissioned the legendary composer Philip Sparke to create an original work dedicated to Jon.

When Jon was in hospital we told him of our plan and he was made up and could not believe that someone like Philip would compose a piece for him. Jon's request was that this piece be a 'bright piece that reflects the sea and water that is central to what Warsash is'. So that is what we have asked for.

We would like to commission the piece and arrange for a recording to be made to give to his family and music is invariably expensive. This is likely to cost over £6000 but to have the world share in something that Jon was so passionate about would be an amazing tribute.

We have set up this JustGiving page to make it easier for people to share and give donations from afar.

Thank you,

Dave and the Warsash Band
