As a family we are trying to raise funds for a mybility for x dl specialist chair.To enable Julie to be free to spend quality time with her niece and nephew and friends . At the age of 30 she had a great life and a lovely apartment with the world at her feet , when she started complaining of severe back pain she saw a proffessor in neurology who did an immediate mri his diagnosis was spinal stenosis narrowing of the spine something not seen in some one so young and they had no clue how it would affect her in later life because of this she had surgery for prolapsed discs which caused horrendous damage, during which there was a dural tear with spinal fluid leak which caused spinal fluid meningitis which left her with amazing difficulties Inbetween all this she had 3 catastrophic strokes which she fought back from with a tenacity that amazes everyone she meets Sadly her story dosent end there Julie lives along side chronic pain and chronic fatigue on a daily basis but is now also fighting a degenartive neurological condition that is affecting her already damaged limbs her lower limbs are inverted with no feeling left, her upper limbs have limited feeling , the facial muscles and her swallow have been damaged and the right side of the brain is no longer functioning as well as it should. Her new bungalow has undergone a complete renovation too keep her independent sadly she is becoming socially isolated as her present chair is no longer sufficient, causing immense pain and discomfort when out and about due to the rough pavements and lack of ramps . The new chair is an all terrain chair making rough pavements and the lack of ramps no longer a problem as it can climb kerbs its agility.outdoors is outstanding and indoors is just as amazing. Julie said it was like riding on a cushion of air during the extensive trialling of the chair she went up and down kerbs over rough terrain up steep enbankments and not once did she feel any discomfort It is her dream to be as independent outdoors as she is indoors. To be Free to enjoy life again.
