Story
Our Grandson Oscar Leslie Kaye and his journey so far xxx

Oscar arrived on Sunday 6th August 2017 at Leeds General Infirmary on the Clarendon wing. He came six weeks premature with a congenital heart disease, Coarctation of Aorta. This is a narrowing of the major artery that carries blood to the body. This narrowing affects blood flow where the arteries branch out to carry blood along separate vessels to the upper and lower parts of the body. In this condition the aorta (the main artery that carries blood from the heart to the body) is narrowed or constricted.
Oscar was cared for by a fantastic team of people on various wards within the Clarendon wing until he was strong enough and at a healthier weight to undergo his heart surgery to repair the aorta.
The neonatal team care for some of the youngest patients and look after more than 1,700 premature and sick babies every year, making their units some of the busiest in the country. They care for babies from the whole of the Yorkshire region (the largest network in the UK with 42,000 deliveries per year) and beyond.
Not only did the staff care for Oscar during this difficult time but they were a massive support to our Daughter Stacey and her partner Tom, and ultimately saved our Grandsons life.
We are raising funds through this just giving page and also running a raffle if anyone would like to buy any raffle tickets or donate any raffle prizes. All proceeds will go towards purchasing vital medical equipment for the neonatal unit & ward 51
