I've raised £500 to share the project, support the creative artists involved and create online resources to be used by schools, children and families.

Kaagaz (meaning paper in Hindi, Punjabi & Urdu) is a pilot multi-arts project that will engage young people and families with a focus on South Asian Heritage families. The aim of the project is to use historic events, in this case the partition of India in 1947, to engage young people in the arts as well as arts venues.
Participants of the project will be introduced to South Asian dances, creative movement, visual arts, storytelling and creative writing through online activities with professional artists. Participants will also have the opportunity to try out activities at home with their family, inspired by the personal accounts from people affected by the 1947 partition in India. Participants creations will be shared on our website and social media. This project will conclude with an online flash mob, created by the project participants, based on the theme of hope. A mini-documentary film screening about the project will take place at the Whitworth Gallery in Manchester and the Partition Museum in Amrtisar, India.
We will be creating resources and activities to be shared with schools, families and community organisations.
The project is a delivered jointly by Salma Zaman and Nisha Lall. The project is also supported by Kala Sangam in Bradford and Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield.
This is a pilot project which we hope will develop and will become a model to take into schools, communities organisations and arts venues.
All Just Giving Campaign supporters will receive a special mention on our website.
