Emergencies

Story

As something to aim for in a "big birthday" year, I set myself a target to cycle from Glasgow to Edinburgh in the Pedal for Scotland Classic Challenge. In doing so, I want raise money for a small number of charities and other good causes which I have a connection with.

Motivated by Mervyn was set up in 2013 following the tragic death by drowning of a cousin of mine, Iain Mervyn Macleod. His family have been raising money to purchase personal locator beacons for sole fishermen throughout the Western Isles. The beacons alert the emergency services should a fisherman with one get into difficulties. To date, 98 beacons have been purchased in his memory for fishermen from the Butt of Lewis to Barra.

These beacons save lives. Please support this valuable cause.
