Many people will know this special boy as the dog with broken back, but we only know him as PHOENIX. We saw Phoenix online laying comatose, dying, in a council run shelter. A local vet had reported that his spinal chord was severed and his back legs broken. Despite this disturbing diagnosis, no change was made to where or how this poor boy would be cared for. He was left where he was, only being tended to by volunteers. We managed to take Phoenix under our wing a few days ago and had his re-xrayed and fully blood tested. He was infact suffering from a serious infection and badly dislocated back hip. He tested negative for Leishmania. He is now on medication, supplements and pain killers and being cared for by us in a loving home environment. Everyday we are seeing mild improvements. In a few weeks, if his blood levels have stabilized, we will schedule his hip operation and we expect him to make a full recovery. We cannot bear to think how he survived on the streets in this condition, all we know is that he is a true survivor and deserves a real chance at life. We are appealing for help with his ongoing medical and operation costs. We are a very small group who rely solely on the goodwill of others to help. Please please help Phoenix to become whole again
