I'm raising £5000 to support 14 - 16 yr old lads to experience a rites of passage

Story

Kingfisher Project offers 14-16 year-old boys a 4-day, rites-of-passage experience. This helps develop self-confidence, emotional resilience, personal responsibility, positive relationships, and a sense of identity and belonging.

Adolescence is a significant stage of development during which young people face social, emotional and personal challenges. Many teenage boys have limited access to positive male role models, structured developmental opportunities, or supportive peer communities. Kingfisher Project springs from a wish to do something about this, by offering boys the fresh sense of direction and self-worth provided by communal initiation.

Kingfisher Project is a volunteer-led not-for-profit organisation. It raises funds annually in order to cover its costs and to provide bursaries to support participation by boys from low-income families, so that financial circumstances are not a barrier to taking part.

The benefits of Kingfisher Project's activities extend beyond the individual participants. By helping teenage boys become more confident, resilient and responsible members of society, the project also benefits families, schools and the wider community.
