Story
My mother in law is a Sister in Alder hey children hospital. She oversees the care of very sick children in ward 4 A. It's a specialist ward caring for children with brain tumors, brain injury, life changing spinal injuries and facial disfigurement. It's also the trauma center for children in northwest. Caring for children from birth to 18 years. As you may be not be aware Alder Hey has moved location and as a result its brought greater sized wards to help cope with the higher volume of patients it receives on a daily basis. This year the staff are looking to buy new Christmas decoration for their ward to help bring a bit of Christmas cheer to the kids and families faces. As the ones they have are old and tatted. That being said the wards are now a lot larger than old and the cost to decorate them will be an expensive cost indeed. Unfortunately the NHS does not have a budget for this, so its down to the wonderful staff to fund it. As we all know for the outstanding work the staff do caring for the children needs they do not receive nearly enough money as they should. However they still manage to spend what little extra they have to buy some decorations.
So I say lets give these unsung heroes a break!!!
So I have decided to take part in a 10 k run which will take place on 8th of October at Croxteth hall park Liverpool. I am looking for generous people too donate whatever they can to this cause. lets put a smile back on the children's faces for this Christmas. Whilst we sit at home stuffed on turkey and Christmas pudding playing games and having fun with our loved ones. The children of ward 4 A lay in bed away from home for some it might be their first Christmas spent in hospital, or for some there first Christmas ever and sadly for some it might be there last one. Not forgetting the staff too whom have to work away over the festive period from loved ones to help care for the sick children on the ward. So I say lets make it a memorable one as well as helping fund Christmas decorations I was hoping to have some money aside to buy a gift each for the children to wake up to one Christmas morning and know Santa never forgotten them because the where not at home.
In addition to the Christmas decoration and presents, Any monies over will be used to buy vouchers which will provide clothes and essentials for babies and children that come in with nothing.
