Story
I am raising funds for the Shooting Star Unit at Wrexham Maelor Hospital and Nightingale House Hospice who are currently supporting me due to a my diagnosis of secondary breast cancer on 4th June 2019.
I was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer on 4th June 2019 after a lot of tests from April 2019. The cancer had return in my hip and spine. I started oral chemotherapy and had a course of radiotherapy in July 2019 to my hip which helped with my mobility. I had to have dental treatment before I could continue with my chemo treatment which recommenced in September 2019. Unfortunately I struggled with this drug and I had 5 hospital admissions from October to April, being tested negative for COVID19 whilst I was there. My brilliant oncologist had made decision to change my chemo drug and that happened on 30th April. I knew there was something not right and was finally tested on 24th April 2020 to be told the cancer has spread to the base of my skull. I commence a 5 day course of radiotherapy treatment the same day that I started chemo and then on 1st May I had my second blood transfusion. My platelets were low and so far I have had 9 platelet transfusions and 4 blood transfusions. The care that I have received since this latest revelation has been second to none and I want to give something back. My mobility is not the best at the moment, I'm just slow and careful. I have decided to walk the length of my garden, which is 91 steps and 0.05 km which is 2 lengths of my lovely garden. I will do 20 lengths when the weather permits and I've promised a good friend that I will do it in fancy dress. I know its not far, but it is for me at this present time. I hope you will donate so that I can support the teams that have helped my health improve in the last few weeks and give me that little bit longer to spend time with my beautiful boy who is my hero. thank you in advance LInda xxx
