Story
Along with two friends, I have recently helped set up a small charity that supports education-related projects and preventative healthcare initiatives in Honduras. Our aim is to empower children and young people through education, by helping to fund short-term projects in schools and longer-term university scholarships for motivated students.
Our first project is tuition fee support for Stephanie Chavez, a 17-year-old Honduran girl who has been accepted onto a medical program at the Catholic University of San Pedro Sula. Stephanie's parents are both farmers and although they have always prioritised their children's education, they cannot fully cover the costs of Stephanie's tuition. educate. aims to raise $2,000 per year to help the Chavez family fund Stephanie's dream of becoming a doctor.
To make a start with the fundraising, I am going to run a half marathon (21km) in Leiden on the 21st May! Please use this page to donate - and be sure that 100% of the donations we receive will go to Stephanie's tuition fees. The smallest donations will make a difference!
