Story
Dave Briggs - A wonderful father and friend to so many people, has been diagnosed with lymphoma x z . I have set up this page - even though he won’t want me to! - to help support him when he needs it the most. Absolutely anything you can give to help would be massively appreciated and make his battle that bit easier. Thank you!
Why We Need Your Help
I’m setting this up because I really want to do something to help my friend Dave. For those who don’t know, Dave is an ex-hockey player who hung up his skates to dedicate his life to providing a wonderful village pub in the local community of Wharncliffe Side.
It was no mean feat, first, the Wharncliffe Arms and most recently The Blue Ball but Dave's passion, enthusiasm, and determination shone through as he refurbished the old building to make it what it is today!
However, hard times followed when on completion the 40-year-old loving father of two was diagnosed with lymphoma x z. Whilst undergoing Chemotherapy to help with his fight he suffered from a burst spleen, sepsis and now pneumonia.
This is obviously going to be an incredibly difficult time for Dave and we all want to support him anyway we can. One thing that perhaps gets overlooked when discussing the many negative side effects of cancer is the fact people struggle to continue working and supporting their families. Dave is currently unable to work because of his illness, so one thing I thought I could do is set up this page, just to give him a little extra support and let him focus on what really matters… beating this awful disease so he can get better and get back to running our local!
Dave will hate me for posting this page, but it’s all I can do to help support him so I’m doing it to allow all the other people to also show their appreciation for him. Dave has raised thousands of pounds for charity over the years and expected nothing back… but now is the time to help him too!
We will keep this page updated with Dave's progress and hopefully, with the support and care of us all, a wonderful father, friend, landlord (and Shayne Ward look-a-like) will be able to get through this difficult time, beat cancer and get back to his best.
Absolutely anything you could spare to show support would be hugely appreciated!
