Story
Hi, I'm Lucy, I'm 21 and have been diagnosed with Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and Functional neurological disorder (FND).
I have been diagnosed with PTSD now for coming up to 4 years, and FND has been diagnosed for about 4 months with symptoms going back further, undiagnosed.
I find myself isolated due to my illness and FND causes seizures, weakness, tremors, speech difficulties and shaking as well as being constantly in pain with my joints.
I am passionate about the outdoors, crafts and animals and would like to qualify as a forest school teacher to enthuse children in the environment and nature.
However as I walk very little I am confined to a wheelchair most of my day, this means to can no longer go to the woods, learn and move towards my future goals.
This chair will mean I can act more independently and be able to walk my assistance dog with ease as well as go back to the woodland which is my favourite place without struggling with my mum pushing me across roots and bumps in the ground. This chair is all terrain and I can control it, meaning the people that care for me can have a well needed break when we go out for walks.
