Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my page!
As most of you will know I was diagnosed last Sept with incurable adenocarcinoma of the lung with spinal/liver/bony mets. Our world was turned upside down & this has been the hardest year of our lives. We have all been on an emotional rollercoaster this year, we have had lots of ups & downs but also lots of fun. When I was diagnosed we had to wait up to a month to see if my tumour was suitable to be treated with one of the newer chemo's available. We all lived in hope as this gave me a better life expectancy than the other chemo's which offered me 8-12 months. I couldn't bare to think of that! Our prayers were answered & I was suitable for Ertlonib an oral chemo tablet I take every morning. It is working really well so far on my tumours but it does not come without its side effects. There is many side effects. After the first 2 months of treatment I had to get the dose reduced as my face was covered in pustules! My face was cracking & weeping it was difficult to eat or speak. I was in a lot of pain but the reduced dose has helped my face but it continues to work on my tumours. The past 3 months my scalp has been sore. I have thick plaques on my scalp, I have weeping sores, areas of my head have no hair & the hair I have is very thin. I visit the chemotherapy unit at least monthly to get my check up & more tablets. Every time I am there myself & my family get lots of support from the staff & they are such a friendly bunch of nurses that I decided I want to give something back to the unit. They all always have a smile on their face & certainly make my journey easier. I have decided to shave my hair off & raise some money for them. I would be grateful if you could help me in my aim to raise funds for the chemotherapy day unit by making a donation I would be very grateful. I know there is lots of people fundraising & myself included as I have done lots of fundraising this year but any amount you can soare would be appreciated. Thank you for reading my story,
