Story
Our wonderful teammate and friend, Shannon has been a loyal member of Chiltern Hockey Club for many years now. She has played for all three teams in our little club, supported all social and fundraising events and always been there to help anyone who needed it, now its our turn to say love ya and thank you by us fundraising and helping you!!
A few months ago now, Shannon had to make the tough and heartbreaking decision to undergo surgery on her back for the 2nd time. This decision is heartbreaking for sports mad, marathon running Shan as it meant she had to say goodbye to playing hockey and running, for good. Shan being a mum first and foremost made this decision for her beloved daughter Evelyn AKA Pug who will need her mum mobile as she grows up.
Shan was confirmed to have degenerate disc disease and had to have 2 operations in 2 days to preserve her spine for as long as possible. These operations repaired what was carried out in her first operation back in 2003 which involved removing cages and screws from her spine before fusing it all together.
As I am sure you can imagine, surgery like this is not cheap so we would like to help Shan as much as possible with her half of the medical bills so that she can concentrate all her efforts on getting better and growing stronger for herself and also for our little hockey buddy, Pug.
As well as setting up this page, Chiltern Hockey Club will be taking part in a 24 hour dribble marathon in the summer to collect sponsorship to go towards our fund raising pot! Everyone is welcome to get involved, the more the merrier to keep that ball moving!! We will also be putting together various other fund raising activities to make as much as we can for Shannon.
We know that humble Shannon will appreciate you all thinking of her and would be touched if you could spare however much you can to help our cause.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you more if you have donated.
