Story
On the 2nd of September 2016 I gave birth to my 5th son leo , I soon realised that leo had Down syndrome nobody had to tell me , I personally never new much about Down syndrome till I had leo so the not knowing sent my head into a spin . the first night in hospital I looked up a Facebook page my friend had told me about , ollie and Cameron twin boys who have Down syndrome , when I seen these to adorable boys I then thought if leo is half of the character of those boys that's great .
when leo was about 10 days old I went to ups and downs in st madoes which is the local Down syndrome Scotland branch , This group opened my eyes big time , I met lots of families and children with Down syndrome and I enjoyed it , but that night I broke down , I hit me , finally! I never realised how Down syndrome can delay a child development, the health issues that are faced . The next week or two was a struggle for me but I had a contact I'd met at group who was at end of phone or text and I soon returned to the next group and as a family we go and have fun with all different activities and I am learning so much from the amazing friends I have made . I struggle to go to groups that are not for special needs the feeling of seeing kids the same age as leo doing things he can't is heart breaking but at ups and downs we are all one big family .
This group and the friends ive made are my life line , please support us xxx
