We are thrilled to announce that we have been selected to perform at the North Wales Choir Festival in Llandudno on 7/8 February 2026.  However, as with anything these days, it comes with a cost and we need to raise £4000 to help get us there.

We are The Melody Makers, a community ladies choir based in Ystrad Mynach, South Wales.  We were formed in 2010 by Lyn Cushing who wanted to create a local choir “with a difference” to help her grieve the loss of her parents.  Lyn worked tirelessly to provide performance opportunities for the new choir, building members and ensuring the choir could thrive.  Charlotte Ashworth joined a s Musical Director in October 2011 and together Lyn and Charlotte started to build what was to become an incredibly warm and caring group of women who have formed lifelong friendships and actually, have become an amazing choir!

Sadly, we lost Lyn in 2020 to cancer but we continue to take the choir from strength to strength in her memory and Lyn would be so excited for us to be taking part in this event.

Last year we won our first award as Christmas Carol Choir 2024 commissioned by Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr Hospital Radio in Ystrand Mynach.  We perform at regular community events throughout the year, local care homes and host a biannual Gala Concert with local guest performers raising funds for ourselves and charity organisations.  We even did our first flash mob last Christmas at the Consurio Lounge in Caerphilly!

We are planning various fundraising events over the next couple of months including  a Family Quiz and Karaoke night and a Clothes Swap.  It would be amazing if you could help us reach our goal to get these wonderful women to North Wales to experience such an amazing choral event.  The £4000 would cover travel and accommodation costs for the weekend.
