How many martial artists does it take to build a Christmas Grotto?
Honestly, we don't know. But we plan to find out.
I'm Rich, a guy who has been training martial arts in Winsford for around 20 years. Currently, I train at the Modern Kenpo Karate Association under Senior Master Ted Clare. As martial artists, we believe in enriching individuals young and old, embuing them with a sense of integrity and responsibility. Responsibilty extends well beyond the walls of the Dojo, out into our wider community. When it came to the attention of Ted that Winsford Cross Shopping Centre would be without a Santa's Grotto this year, he took it upon himself to make absolutely sure that this happened. And by himself, I mean the MKKA.
Together we've committed ourselves to put some time, money and effort into the community to enliven and enrich our town during the festive season. The key goal here is to create a small piece of Christmas magic for local children to engage with.
We want them to have fond memories of their home town. We want parents to be able to see their kids really enjoying a fantastic experience. We want people to be able to take pride in where they live and the people with whom they share it.
Unfortunately, we can't do this alone. So we're asking Winsfordians (or literally anyone) to step up and put whatever you can down to help us out. We're looking for about £500 to buy up some building materials and decorations. The timescale is pretty short, as Christmas is rapidly approaching - we'd appreciate every penny we receive in favour of this.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. We're trying to do something for the kids, the parents and the community - we'd be proud to say that we did it with your help.
