Story
Hi,
On Saturday 2nd September 2017, myself, Joe, James and Joseph will be walking across the new Queensferry Crossing (having been lucky enough to have been drawn in the ballot to do so). As such we will be part of the priviliged 50,000 who have been chosen for this once in a lifetime experience.
We have crossed the Forth many times over the last years and like everyone else have never stopped being amazed at the views of the Forth and its beautiful bridges. In the last few months this view has become even more stunning with the addition of the new bridge, now we have three different bridges marking three different centuries. Our son James was also lucky enough to have a summer engineering placement working on the bridge which gives us even more reason to feel a connection with this new bridge.
We would like to take advantage of this opportunity to raise some money for the Eating Disorders ( Eden )Unit in Aberdeen. As most of you probably know we have had cause to know this place pretty well in the past and without it I shudder to think where our family would be today. Indeed the lack of resources in Aberdeen and the whole of the North of Scotland mean that the majority of people suffering from these life threatening illnesses are forced to travel to the central belt for treatment. From a personal perspective we had to travel back and forward to Edinburgh ( over the Forth Road Bridge) upwards of three times a week for many years because of the absence of facilities available in our part of the world. The Eden Unit has only room for around 10 inpatients at any one time and it would be wonderful if we could do something to help support the wonderful work that is done there and so give something back.
