Five years have passed since we completed a +1000 mile ride from Birmingham to Barcelona, raising over £4000 for Brain Tumour UK. After time to rest our legs, Rob, Rossa, Will, Oli, Tom and Ryan have decided to pull their bikes out of the shed and do something similar and equally as challenging.

WHY ARE WE CYCLING?

Over the past two years both Rob and Ryan's Mums were diagnosed and treated for different forms of Breast Cancer. The level of care from diagnosis to discharge received in Lincoln (Ryan's Mum) and in the West Midlands (Rob's Mum) was outstanding.

As Ryan's Mum also works as one of the clinic 'Sisters' on the Lincoln Breast Unit (meaning we can track how our donation is spent) we have decided to donate 50% of any funds raised to the Lincoln Breast Unit.

We would also love to continue our support of 'The Brain Tumour Charity', so will be donating the other 50% of any money raised to this important and growing organisation. For information on their work, please visit: www.thebraintumourcharity.org

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

This time, we've challenged ourselves to cycle the length of France in 8 days - from the northern town of Caen to Monaco. By our reckoning this will mean just over 700 miles of pedal turning, including a pass over the French Alps.

WHAT WILL WE DO WITH THE MONEY?

Money donated to the Lincoln Breast Unit will make a contribution to the cost of state of the art equipment used during and post breast reconstruction. In the past, donations have been used to purchase equipment such as:

- A probe for sentinel lymph-node biopsies.
- A tattoo machine so the areola can be tattooed post-reconstruction.
- Lipo-modelling equipment that aids tissue deficit during breast reconstruction and breast conserving surgery.

Money donated to 'The Brain Tumour Charity' will be used on pioneering research into the diagnosis and treatment of Brain Tumours.
