Story
Wolverton Town Cricket Club is 122 years old and is an organisation run by volunteers. It exists solely on the financial contribution of its patrons and members by way of subscriptions, donations and fund raising activities supported by periodic grants from sports authorities and charities. This fully inclusive Club provides a valuable sports facility and relies on the local community from where it's players and members come.
We actively encourage our community to join us on match days, to show their support to the players and the small group of dedicated and committed people desperate to secure the future of the club in these difficult financial times. We feel this can only be achieved with the help of the community and businesses and invite you to come on board to help us grow and be a club the community can be proud of.
Alas the time has come to replace our trusty ride on pitch roller Invicta Morris. No one knows for certain how old Invicta is. What's certain is that they don't make them anymore. Our Invicta is from the early 1950's..yes you read right!! Some 30 years ago it received an engine transplant when a Morris 1000 car engine was adapted to fit! I couldn't believe it either!! The eagle eyed will have noticed that Invicta is actually a road roller so one can imagine the havoc it creates on grass from the rear split roller wheels!!
In its twilight years after many decades of sterling service the good folk at WTCC have decided a newer updated model is needed to keep up with the modern rigours of the game. It may also help us hit a few more 4's!!
We are already fund raising for the Club in general, however our goal is now to raise sufficient funds for this expensive but essential and unique piece of equipment.
This can only be achieved with your help. so, if you think after 122 years this historic cricket club is deserving of a proper cricket pitch roller and that Invicta Morris should retire WG Gracefully then please contribute - Every penny helps. Thank you.
