New Rainbow Pre-School has been based in the heart of the Mirehouse community in Whitehaven for a number of years. It is a registered charity. Originally it was a mother and toddler group which then expanded into childcare. It used to be based under St Benedicts church and is now based on Croasdale Avenue. It has been here for the last 13 years.

The charity is finding it increasingly difficult to fund the work it does as costs rise and funded places don't cover the core costs of running the setting. The staff and committee really want to continue to remain open in the coming years to be a sustainable and thriving charity, supporting the families in this close community.

The setting tragically lost their Leader at a young age and in her memory are wanting to continue the good work she instilled within the charity and see it going for at least another 13 years.

The 13 mile walk will take place on Friday 16th june, which is close to her birthday. The remaining three members of staff will be completing the walk, though hopefully some of the parents and children will join us for a short section. The walk itself will go past her memorial bench where the children will hopefully visit and make memories there on the day.

Any funds raised will go towards running costs of the setting, this winter has been particularly difficult and rising costs have far outweighed increases from the government for the funded places. It would also be used towards additional resources that do need replenishing throughout the year, e,g craft supplies, books, toys etc.
