Story

The 3 Peaks challenge in 24 hrs! For those of you who haven't heard of this Aaron Apperley and myself will be climbing the three highest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon) on the 30th Sept, and all within a 24hr period.....The question is why???

If you live in or around Gloucester you can't help but notice how the homeless problem has increased in the last few years. We have all become used to walking past a man or woman sat in a door way who has spent the night on the streets.

Gloucester City Mission works directly with the homeless of the city offering them real help through the provision of a meal, access to shower and clothes washing facilities as well as sign posting local services that can help address the underlying issues holding a person back. We are a Christian charity so try to look after peoples spiritual needs as well as their physical ones.

The City Mission now has a home in the George Whitfield Centre and wants to expand the services we can offer to the homeless and vulnerable. To do this we need more support both financial and through new volunteers giving their time.

We are looking to raise £2000 to help support the work that the City Mission does whilst ensuring that we can maximise the use of our building by increasing our opening times and putting on a wider range of activities to help enable a person to move away from rough sleeping.
