Story
I am Hans' breeder. He is a miniature smoothhaired Dachshund and was born on the 10th of July 2017. At two days old he became a little lethargic, he had a trip to the vets, they gave him subcutaneous fluids and he picked up, we thought maybe it was dehydration. A week later he became lethargic again. After three more trips to the vets who weren't particularly helpful he deteriorated further and yesterday (4/8/2017) after my insistence he was referred to a specialist in Derby. A liver shunt was suspected but no one really knew what was wrong, he was a third of the size of his siblings. He is currently undergoing tests and although he wasn't expected to survive the night is still fighting. The initial cost for the admittance and battery of tests is estimated at between £1500-£2500. If he does have a liver shunt he will be operated on at approx 6 months old at a cost of approximately £3500 which is expected to cure him.
As his breeder I take full responsibility for his care and the cost of it, the money from the sale of his siblings will go towards his care and my parents or myself will be keeping him for ever, whatever the outcome.
I thought long and hard about setting up this page for fear of abuse but quite a few people in the Facebook Dachshund community have said that they would like to help so I have swallowed my pride and here it is.
Should any money be donated and not used for Hans' treatment I will be forwarding it on to a Dachshund Charity, of which I will decide when and if the time comes.
Thanks in advance.
