Story
Our good friend Viv Sweetland, or Bushcutter to his biking friends for his biking escapades, sadly passed away from Leukemia earlier this year. He was being treated at Heath Hospital in Cardiff and always wanted to show them his appreciation by arranging a rideout to raise money for the haematology department that looked after him. Unfortunately he never got the chance to do this.
He loved his bike, his riding mates, and the camaraderie that came with it, He was one of the original and most enthusiastic members of Dragon Bikers Forum and worked tirelessly to help get it up and running. Throughout his illness you never heard him complain and you never saw him without a big grin on his face. He had a bonkers sense of humour and if Viv was in the room or riding with you then you knew you were going to have a laugh.
I'd like to ask people to donate a little towards what meant so much to him, hopefully we can raise some money for the haematology department on his behalf.
Our mate Viv, you'll always be one of the boys.
THE COMPETITION IS...
Two of us are setting off on a bike tour of Spain and Portugal at the beginning of September. We'll be setting off from just outside Cardiff to the ferry that will take us to Spain. From there it's through the Picos mountain range, down into Portugal, then back up by a different route, back through the Picos and back to the ferry. We leave on Tuesday 5th and arrive back on Sunday 17th. We'll be on the ferry for 24 hours each way.
The person that guesses closest to the total road mileage we'll cover on the tour door-to-door (excluding the ferry) wins a Dragon Bikers hoodie (delivery arrangements to be agreed). When you donate please post your mileage guess as well as your full name. Photo's of the opening and closing mileage on my bike will be posted here.
The winners name will be posted here after the tour along with an email address to claim your hoodie.
So off we go then.............. what's your best guess?
