Story

Owen Gibb is 3 and a half years old. He recently became the proud big brother to his sister Julia. Their mum, Heather, took Julia for a routine weighing with a health visitor. She also took Owen, and the HV remarked he looked a bit pale and perhaps should have his iron levels tested.

Owen's parents promptly took him to get his blood checked, thinking it would be a few days before they hear anything. A couple of hours later, they got a phone call every parent dreads. It turned out Owen had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. It has been caught extremely early, but it still means a lot of invasive treatments over the next few years for Owen, who has already lost his hair, his growth might possibly be stunted.

We all know Owen and his family will get through it, and they've all been unbelievably brave and taking it in their stride, but a few friends (well, more than a few, which just shows how loved Heather and the family are) have come up with ideas for fundraising.

We will be doing some fun things at the end of this month, all for Owen, but in the meantime, if you can spare a few pennies, please help to support this family through some hard times.

Let them enjoy the good days with some days out, or easing the pressure from some of the bills. Make life just that bit less stressful as they help Owen beat this, like we all know he will.
