Story

Last year I worked in an additional support needs school and it had a profound effect on me.

Parkhill Addition Support for Learning Secondary School (formerly Kennyhill) celebrates 100 years of helping the most vulnerable of children. As Glasgow’s second oldest school in the sector, it champions education at all levels and a ground-breaking vocational hub. Working with children in and helping them overcome barriers to learning such as; autism, global learning delay, physical disabilities, medical conditions, including social and domestic life, was a life changing experience. Through the children and staff my understanding of learning, achievement and happiness has been re-shaped.

I want you to join me help raise funds to give these amazing pupils their own life changing experiences – particularly an overseas exchange trip to Germany in June 2018. For some senior pupils this will bring considerable self-esteem and be a first and maybe only - much needed window to the outside world. Last years trip was an outstanding success. Help to make this years trip a reality.

TO ENCOURAGE YOU TO HELP I AM RUNNING THE GREAT SCOTTISH RUN 10K ON SUNDAY 1 OCTOBER 2017. I HAVE SET A MINIMUM FUNDRAISINGTARGET OF £500.

A common theme with austerity measures is the way that it hits the most vulnerable in our society first. I have seen this first hand. As conscientious citizens of the world let’s bring communities together and show how generous the Muslim, Asian, Pakistani community are within the very city we live in.

People make Glasgow.
