Story
In 2018, Somerset Council approved a development of 130 homes at Townsend Green. This was only allowed on the clear understanding that there would be a safe pedestrian route down the high street - A357. Planned improvements had to be approved before the start of development, what is known as a "true condition precedent." Somerset Council failed to do that, but have wrongfully given permission for the development anyway.
Opposite to that development, approval has now been given for a further 52 homes despite the action being taken on the 130 and a commitment not to do so from Somerset Council's legal team.
We need to hold them to account and ensure that they follow their own rules and policies and act within the framework of the law.
I have instigated three separate Judicial Reviews so as to hold them to account. The first was conceded, but there are two others outstanding where I need funding support. If I can confirm the "Condition Precedent" then I, together with others would be in a much better position to ensure that our high street is no longer a death trap for any pedestrian who ventures down it.
I have already raised £8,000 through a previous JustGiving page from 88 different contributors. Thank you all. That page has "timed out," hence this new one. Please do continue to contribute. There is still a very significant need to allow this action to continue.
