Story
I'm planning to climb Aconcagua this Nov/Dec as part of my rehabilitation from a knee injury sustained last year as well as setting a goal to help me improve my fitness and lose the beer belly.
Aconcagua, located in Argentina near to the Chilean border forms part of the Andes mountain range. It has a number of claims to fame. It is the highest mountain in South America, highest mountain in the southern hemisphere, highest mountain outside the Himalayas and the second highest of the Seven Summits after Everest.
I'll be dragging my gimpy leg up solo (unless anyone fancies joining me) without the aid of porters/mules or supplimentary oxygen, as that would be cheating. With any luck I'll summit the 6961m high mountain on or around the 10 December 17.
The trip will be entirely self funded any and all money raised will go to good causes.
I'm supporting Mission Motorsport, a charity close to my heart. They support Wounded, Injured and Sick Servicemen and women through the vehicle of motorsport. Everything from engagement events to get recipients out of the house to work placements in the motorsport and automotive industries, with the ambition to get WIS back on their feet, or as often is the case prosthetics.
I have dipped into their pool of resources more than I'd like and am taking this opportunity to give something back to a very worthy cause.
