Story

Thank you for the support so far.

5K Tough Mudder challenge.

The funds raised will help people who reside in social housing (hostels) enabling them to get out of their current situation for an evening or two during the week and enjoy themselves socially while learning the Djembe Drum.

With hostel residents in mind I found this workshop's atmosphere the most soul satisfying, especially when the whole group comes together. I want to pass this find onto the residents who live in nearby hostels, (happiness and spirits can be lifted). This group is for all levels of drummers (no one gets left behind), and the facilitators are warm and welcoming.

In my voluntary work I hear stories of social stigma, how people's unfortunate circumstances can lead to social exclusions. Hostel living is not easy and isolation is a high issue for many, which can increase anxiety and bouts of depression. Most residents in social residency will not have the funds to pay for workshops of their choice.

I picked African Drumming, as it is the most fun and rewarding and less expecting from it's participants, just an open mind to culture differences is all.

While there, I spoke with Sue the facilitator, she has kindly allowed us to have the workshops at 6 pounds per person, and a further concessions for any hostel resident who wishes to continue after the funding has stopped, only that they are to give a small donation.

Thank you for your generosity Sue.

Knowing that residents will have continuous access to this great workshop makes my 5K Tough Mudder Challenage a little bit easier.

I will be running on the 16th of September.

Thank you and support me.
