Story

Nadya is now 25 years old. Until February 2015 Nadya was super fit, healthy and full of life. On February 2nd 2015 she fell into a coma suffering from an extremely rare and serious brain disease called NORSE. Nadya has spent many months in the intensive care in London Neurology and Neurosurgery hospital and was fighting for her life. In August 2015 she came out of coma. After spending a year in Kent and Canterbury Hospital in August 2016 she was moved to Strood Park Care Home in Herne-Bay. The illness had a massive impact on her health, speech and mobility.

There are days when Nadya feels better, but there are also periods when she needs to be admitted to hospital due to various infections. She still suffers from seizures, therefore she is still on 7 types of medication. One of Nadya's carers said that she is a bit better than when she first arrived to the care home. She is now making eye contact with people and can say few words and phrases.

To make her life a little bit easier, Nadya needs a new carpet, a new bed, an orthopaedic pillow, a wheelchair, an armchair for the room and a small fridge. She also needs regular physiotherapy sessions.

All this things cost money, that's why we need to raise money for her. To raise funds I’ll be running the Snowdonia Marathon on 28th Oct 2017.

Thank you for your generosity.
