I have now walked 1000 miles over 11 months in 2017 in aid of another candlestand for St Mary's, as the existing one is too small on Sunday mornings. The example shown in the picture above is from Bury St Edmunds and gives an idea of what we can expect to see in Richmond.
By the end of June I had already done over half the distance and the health benefits were paying off until I fell off a stile and sprained my ankle!
Early in July I visited the Shropshire Hills and covered 43 miles in 6 days

I spent the August Bank Holiday weekend walking 28 miles in beautiful countryside around Chichester.

During an October trip to Malta I enjoyed 30 miles of coastal and country walking and passed the 900 mile mark.

I passed my 1000 mile goal during a circuit of Richmond Park on St Andrew's Day, accompanied by some friends from St Mary Magdalene. It was freezing cold but we were blessed with a blue sky and lots of sunshine. We celebrated my achievement in style with a flask of mulled wine at the Robin Hood Gate and made our way to Pembroke Lodge to meet more friends for tea.
