Warren was planning to run the River Kwai Half Marathon in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, in September 2016, with his running partner Annie Smith. However, due to his cancer surgery/radiotherapy he had to withdraw from the race. He vowed to get himself through the cancer treatment and fit to run the race in September 2017. Sadly, it wasn't to be and he passed away due to his melanoma on 26 December 2016. Friends and family have now come together to run the Half Marathon (21km) or 10km in his memory on 10th September 2017 to raise money for the Warren Shaw Memorial Scholarship. The Scholarship will fund a local student from Hua Hin School, Thailand to study at Stamford International University, Hua Hin where Warren was a lecturer. The aim of the Scholarship is to continue Warren's legacy of supporting education in Thailand.
