Story

My name is Ryan Hume, currently I am 16 years old and my ultimate goal Is to be the youngest Scot to climb Mount Everest. The highest mountain in the world.

My dream started after my expedition to Greenland as part of the 2016 team with the Polar Academy. The aim of the Polar Academy is to inspire and give confidence to young individuals such as myself that didn't have that confidence or drive to achieve what I want to achieve in life. This experience has shown me that anything is possible when you put your mind to it and with the right people backing you (hint hint). Also in order to give back to the Polar Academy I will be donating 5% of the total amount raised, which if the goal is reached will be £1000.

You may recall my article in The Sunday Post https://www.sundaypost.com/in10/chat/15-year-old-boy-sets-sights-mount-everest-despite-fear-heights/ where the headline confirmed my fear of heights. Well, in order to combat this I will be doing a skydive in St Andrews on the 5th November.

My challenges for this year don't stop there, I will also be taking part in Pedal for Scotland in less than 2 weeks, which is a 46 mile cycle from Glasgow to Edinburgh.

The funds raised will go toward essential high altitude training expeditions which must be completed before my attempt of Everest, which will be booked to take place in Nepal and South America.
