Story
The Meserani Project was setup by a former Middlesbrough Deputy Headteacher. Its aim is to improve the education provision in the Meserani region of Tanzania, close to the city of Arusha.
Approximately 1 in 19 young people complete their secondary education in Tanzania. This is because £100 per year is required in tuition fees from students in government run schools and many families simply cannot afford this. The Meserani project over the last 10 years has provided support and assistance to several schools and students in the region. More information about the project can be found here: http://meseraniproject.co.uk/history-of-the-project/
In August 2018 we are taking approximately 20 6th Form students to visit this area. As part of our visit we will be visiting several of the schools that the Meserani project supports. The students are individually raising the funds to go on this trip, however we would like to raise as much money as possible to provide and distribute equipment to schools and pupils on our visits. Even basic stationery such as pens and pencils are difficult to obtain in this part of the world.
If we manage to raise at least £500 we would be able to take a sizeable amount of this equipment with us and distribute it.This will include, pens, pencils, exercise books, rulers and possibly textbooks. The money raised will be going directly to people who are most in need.
