Story
Hello
My name’s Emma Richardson and I’m looking for some support in a once in a life time experience.
I have been selected to represent Cornwall on their South African Tour in February 2018 which will include matches in Johannesburg and Cape Town. This is an official tour that is fully endorsed and supported by the Cornwall Schools Cricket Association and the Cornwall Cricket Board. However, in order to be able to go I need to raise £2,300 and would be really grateful for any support you feel able to provide.
I think I should tell you a little bit about me first before you decide. I’m 17 years old and have been playing cricket since I was 5 years old at Falmouth Cricket Club. The first competitive team I played for was the u11’s mixed team - that’s boys and girls. I have been playing for the Ladies XI cricket team since I was 12 and last season I had the privilege of being the Ladies XI captain at Falmouth Cricket Club. I thoroughly enjoyed my role in the team and was able to support the younger girls to help them develop their skills and give them confidence to improve and develop their skills. This gave me great satisfaction.
I have played cricket for Cornwall since making my debut for the u13 Girls. I feel very privileged to represent Cornwall and my cricket has developed immensely while playing for the county. As well as making friends along the way I feel that it is all improving me as a person and will help me in life. When I am not playing cricket, I go to Truro College where I am doing a BTEC Diploma L2 Public Services. Once I have achieved this I am hoping for a career in the Royal Air Force Police.
As well as cricket, I enjoy music, I am a Police Cadet, I am fulling involved in Scouting and really enjoy doing volunteer work. I have a part time job at Raze the Roof doing various roles and saving every penny that I can.
I’m really looking forward to the tour and hope you you will be able to support me in some way.
Thank you very much
Yours in cricket
Emma Richardson
