Weʼve raised £675 to Support the fight against Kirklees Council building 1500+ houses on Bradley Park

Funded on Wednesday, 30th May 2018

    Story

There is a council proposal to build 1500+ houses on the land currently occupied by Bradley Park. This will result in not only the loss of a very popular golf course enjoyed by many, both local, and a large number of visiting parties due to the quality of the golf course, the enjoyable and friendly staff, and the welcoming open to all Clubhouse which for many years has hosted functions and served excellent food & drink.

The golf course is the only municipal golf course in Kirklees and as such is a fully inclusive, affordable and welcoming facility to all levels of golfers from absolute beginners to hosting prestigious area competitions. It has been the starting club for many golfers currently playing in the area.

Although the Golf course is important to our members, Golf is only a small element of the enjoyment gained from the area. The green belt area is very popular with many local walkers and visiting groups who enjoy the beautiful scenery and Wildlife. The area includes part of the Kirklees Way.

We are fighting this proposal primarily to save the golf course, clubhouse, surrounding beautiful areas for the many people using it and the local residents. As local residents we are also fighting the proposal due to many issues which we see as important to the area and includes:

    · Increased traffic in an already congested and busy area.
    · Impact on local Infrastructures e.g. Schools, Doctors, Hospitals & Public Transport
    · Environmental and air quality impact

We are opening this crowd funding page in the hope that local residents, golfers and anyone who enjoys Bradley Park can recognise the effort being put into the fight and hopefully support us . Any kind donation would be very welcome and would go directly to Bradley Park Golf Clubs “Save Bradley Park fund” and can be guaranteed to go towards saving Bradley Park and the local area from the impact that 1500+ houses will have on the local area.

Even a monkey hitting keys at random on a typewriter keyboard for an infinite amount of time could not come up with something as barmy as the Kirklees Local Plan! Good luck with fighting this madness.
