Some of you might know that the National Park of Bory Tuchoskie in Poland was hit by the tremendous, worst ever-recorded tempest on the night of 11/12 August 2017. As a result, Scout Camping Site in Czernica, which belongs to The Polish Scouting and Guiding Association (Związek Harcerstwa Polskiego - ZHP), suffered from unbelievable damages and 140 children were evacuated.

The Site is exceptionally close to my heart. During my youth I spent many holidays there working as an instructor. I currently live in Scotland. However, the site is such a wonderful place that I visit it with my children every year. This allows them to appreciate the beauty of my mother country, remember their roots and improve their polish language. The Organisation not only brings moral virtues, confidence but also encourages children to become more independent. Additionally it provides the opportunity of spending summer holidays to families who may struggle with financial problems.

I was there this year as well and, fortunately, had left the place three weeks before the disaster. Having seen the size of the destruction caused by the storm, I was absolutely devastated. Being a non-profit organisation ZHP is currently not able to deal with the unexpected financial expenses. I would like to start fundraising in order to support the site’s reconstruction and re-enable children to experience holidays they deserve.

The damages were estimated to be around 50k Polish Zloty that is equivalent to £11k depending on the pound rate. The funds from this site will be allocated primarily to the following two areas:

- Scout equipment : tents, camp beds, mattresses, blankets, axes, shovels, hammers, rakes and saws;

- Materials to repair damaged sheds: roof plates, desks, bolts and nails.

We would really appreciate if you can find it in your hearts to make a generous donations and help us restore the beauty and bring back the happiness that was once there.

Drodzy Przyjaciele

Zapewnie większość Polaków wie o nawałnicy, która nawiedziła Bory Tucholskie w nocy z piątku na sobotę 12 sierpnia 2017. W wyniku tego kataklizmu gdyńska baza harcerska w Czernicy zostala bardzo zniszczona, a dzieci ewakuowane.

Baza ta jest wyjątkowo bliska memu sercu. Tam właśnie spędzałam wakacje pełniąc funkcję wychowawcy obozowego. Tam też powracam co roku z moimi dziecmi jako przyjaciel obozu, chociaż mam długa droge do pokonania, gdyż mieszkam obecnie w Szkocji. Pragnę pokazać moim dzieciom jak wygląda prawdziwa, piękna Polska oraz chcialabym, aby moje dzieci pamiętały o polskich korzeniach I mogly udoskonalac język polski. Baza ta wnosi wspaniałe wartości moralne, kształci niezależność u młodych ludzi oraz daje szanse na spedzęnie wartościowych wakacji tym, których rodziny walczą z problemami finansowymi.

W tym roku też byłam w Czernicy, skąd wyjechalam na trzy tygodnie przed nawałnicą. Jestem zdruzgotana widząc rozmiar zniszczeń dokonanych przez żywiol. Pragnę pomóc w zorganizowaniu zbiórki pieniędzy na odbudowę bazy, aby dzieci mogły cieszyc się wypoczynkiem w przyszłym roku. Baza harcerska nie jest w stanie sama udźwignąć ogromu zniszczeń. Bardzo proszę o wsparcie.

Na chwilę obecną zniszczenia zostały oszacowne na 50tys. złotych (ok. £11k w zależności od kursu walut). Pieniądze potrzebne są na zakup sprzętu obozowego (namioty, kanadyjki wojskowe, materace i koce), sprzęt pionierski (siekiery, łopaty, młotki, grabie , piły) oraz materiałow do remontu zniszczonych domków (blachy, deski, śruby, gwoździe).
