I've raised £2000 to create a home for someone in need, in loving memory of Simon Mayhew.

Our beloved son, brother, uncle and friend passed away suddenly from a heart attack less than a month ago, leaving behind a wealth of memories and an unimaginable void. Simon always did have a big heart (albeit, as it turns out, a fragile one) and thought often of how he could improve the lives of others, both among his family and friends but also in the wider community.
A social enterprise of particular significance to Simon was Help Bristol’s Homeless, a local initiative that works to convert old shipping containers into plush new homes for those in need. A Bristol boy to the end, Simon loved the concept of turning something unused and unwanted into a place for those in the city with nowhere else to turn.
Jasper Thompson, affiliated with Help Bristol's Homeless, confirms we can source a single container for around £2,000, with any additional funds being used in the conversion (friends and family are also welcome to be actively involved in the decoration, carpentry, plumbing etc.) or towards the creation of even more homes. Simon's place will be named after him to create a living memorial to this kind, genuine and truly irreplaceable man. There is no better tribute than the continued gift of support to those most in need, through an organisation that seeks to help everyone feel safe, loved and at home.
