Story
We have been members of the Sheppey St John Band since we were children and for all that time the band has never had it's own uniform trousers or shoes. Being a self funded unit , we receive no financial support from national St John Ambulance, so any money we do raise goes on instruments, or more recently band tunics. Nothing comes cheap and with 40 members, purchasing even a small item is costly when you are funding so many adults and cadets. For 2017, the band master set a target to raise £6,000 to pay for tailor made trousers and proper marching band shoes. Our contribution to this is, running the Ashford Half Marathon on the 26 \th November 2017. This will the furthest distance we have ever run and whilst we won't be as fast as Sir Mo, we will do our best to finish it within a reasonable time of 2.5 hours. We aim to raise £500 between us, so please give us your support and help two 50 something year old ladies cross the finish line in style and feel all the pain will be worth the effort!
Thank you,
Claire and Sonia
