Story
In May 2016 beautiful 2 year old little Saffron was taken to hospital with blood in her urine. After examination and a scan it was found that she had a 8cm tumour in her kidney. Saffy then had to go through ten long horrible days of tests, monitoring and a hospital stay. Unfortunately it was confirmed that Saffy had a cancerous tumour of the kidney known as Wilms. After several rounds of chemotherapy, numerous scans, a biopsy and a line insertion Saffy had an operation on 29th June 2016 to remove her kidney and the cancerous tumour.
This has obviously been a horrendous time for Saffy and her parents who had feared the worst. However thanks to the early diagnosis, a quick operation and several rounds of chemo treatment it has been confirmed that Saffy has a stage 1 tumour and the prognosis is now looking good for her. She is a true little soldier who has gone through an horrendous ordeal at such a young age but she has kicked C’s butt although she will have to go back to hospital every 3 months for tests. Bethany’s wish www.bethanyswish.co.uk is a charity dedicated to Bethany who unfortunately lost her fight to Wilms tumour at age 8. The charity raises awareness and supports families and research for children with cancer.
So…touched by the story of Saffy and Bethany a team of staff from Sprite Technical Services UK LLP are currently undergoing the 9 peak challenge (3 peaks is not enough!!) to raise funds for this very worthy cause.
Completed challenges/walks are:
- The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge done in 11.5 hours
- test runs up Snowdon and Scarfell Pike
- National 3 peaks challenge on 1st/2nd July 2017.
In addition to Bethany’s wish we will also be splitting any money raised with the British Heart Foundation and the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice which are also charities that are close to the heart of our challenge takers.
Any donations will be thankfully received and we thank you very much for your generosity.
