I've raised £10000 to help fund the refurbishment of the stage area of the Town Hall on St. Mary's, Isles of Scilly.

The Town Hall was opened in 1889 in the heart of the town on St. Mary’s Isles of Scilly. This imposing granite building has served as a much needed and much loved public hall and theatre, and also as local authority offices. It has been our ‘home’ since ST. MARY’S THEATRE GROUP was set up by a young, enthusiastic forward-looking group of island people in 1967, performing on alternate weeks alongside the longer established Entertainers from whom many of the members originated. The Hall has also been home to many community groups over the years, and at one time it is likely every household would have had at least one family member involved in the performing arts, and would have had occasion to sing, play music, dance or act on the Town Hall stage.
This initiative is to raise much needed funds to restore the stage to community use as it has been closed on and off since 2012 for safety reasons. We need to update the equipment, refurbish the fabric of the building to include sound proofing, thus encouraging new groups in, and a host of other things which would breathe new life into the Hall and open it up further for community use, enhance the visitor experience and provide much needed wet weather facilities.
Our target is huge, but with little steps we will achieve our goal. Follow our Facebook page to see what we are up to.
