Story

Myself and 20 friends and family members are climbing Ben Nevis on 2nd September to raise as much as we can for the Neonatal units in Ninewells and QE Glasgow.

Our daughter Lilah was born on 03/11/16 at 26 weeks only weighing 1lb 3oz. It was touch and go on many occasions during the 5 months she spent between both the Neonatal units recieveing care and treatment - battling numerous infections and various other setbacks including collapsed lungs, an open heart valve and bruising on her brain. The staff provided the best care which kept her alive when she wasnt meant to be born just yet.

On 2 occassions we were transferred to the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Glasgow due to a heart defect and a complex lung issue which required specialist treatment and surgery.

On the tough days we thought we had reached the end of our journey and without the medical equipment and the constant hard work, support and dedication of the nurses, consultants, doctors and surgeons we wouldnt have our girl home. We would love to be able to give a generous amount back to both units.

Lilah is now home on oxygen and doing really well. She has chronic lung disease along with an underlying lung condition that is affecting her left lung and she may require further surgery in the future.

Not everyone is as lucky as us but no matter how much we raise it will make a huge difference for families and babies who may be in our position in the future. The medical equipment does not come cheap - for instance a ventilator which Lilah required to stay alive costs tens of thousands!

It would mean the world to us if we could give something back wether big or small it will still make a difference.

Thanks
Steven
