Story

EMERGENCY RELIEF.

Heavy rains have resulted in catastrophic flooding and landslide in freetown Sierra Leone leaving hundreds dead, homeless and grieving. So many have lost their families and the little possssions they had.

"People are wailing uncontrollably; one woman told me she had lost more than 11 members of her family in the disaster, while another man said he had lost his wife, mother-in-law and children.

Hundreds of people are still coming to the area to look for their loved ones. Some of them told me they have not been able to find them.

In fact, there is no sign of the dozens of homes that were built at the foot of Sugar Loaf mountain.

They are covered in mud, with large areas of mire in some parts. It looks strong, but it is flaky. The concern is that if people walk there they risk sinking in the mud"

As a Sierra Leonean in diaspora and founder of Fashion Label SYDNEY-DAVIES and activist I felt it was my duty to do something. I was due in Sierra Leone next week to launch an exciting project that will not only boost the creative industry and provide a positive outlet for young Sierra Leoneans, but one that would also aid the growth of the economy and inspire others to invest in the development and well being of Sierra Leone and would like to use the opportunity to do something for the victims and their families.

All proceeds donated will go straight from me directly to those affected and not into any corporations pockets as is usually the case and this will be documented for all our sponsors. Please please give what little or much you can. I have been unfortunate to see one of the more graphic images of the aftermath of this disaster and it is shocking and very sad indeed.

Thank you for your donation.
