Story
So after some fears of not being able to run the Loch Ness Marathon through injury i managed to Run the Kilmacolm ½ marathon today! 😁 so i think I’m ready for the big run in two weeks.
I am going to use this Marathon as an opportunity to raise some money for the renal dialysis unit at Inverclyde hospital in the memory of my girlfriend’s gran Mary Elliott, who passed away in May this year and endured dialysis 3 times a week for 5 year’s with no complaint , the money raised will help current patients by funding patient outings or equipment.
For the unfortunate patients who are on dialysis it's a long commitment until they receive a transplant or live out their days getting regular treatment. During treatment friendships are formed and the trips encourage these. Equipment like TVs help the patients pass the time and make the experience a bit more bearable.
Mary was a truly inspirational woman who brought joy with her positive attitude to all who had the privilege to meet her.
Below are a couple of quotes from a news article written about Mary.
Inverclyde Royal’s renal unit Senior charge nurse Alison Hyslop said: “Mary is just amazing.
"She has such a positive attitude to everything. She refuses to lie down to anything.
Thank you xx
