Story

So earlier in 2017 the Channel Islands Surf Federation (CISF) was accepted into the International Surf Federation (ISA) in its own right which allowed us to send a team to the 2017 World Stand Up Paddleboard and Paddleboard Championships in Denmark. Previously we had come under Team GB, through which our small islands had provided 4 team members to date. Since then we have gone into overdrive and through qualifiers picked a team of 6 athletes who along with the manager have committed to attending the event between 1 - 10 Sept. Amazingly at short notice we have managed to fill 14 out of the possible 18 categories of events.

Now this all costs money and we found out about our entry too late for securing funds in the usual round of corporate sponsorship. We have managed to secure some funds from local businesses, there are minimal grants from the local government, and many of the local paddlers have been helping with fund raising through cake sales at races and opening up team training sessions to all comers. However this has only touched the surface of the funds needed. Entry alone was over £2500 and kit, travel, accommodation and board transportation will easily be in excess of £500 per team member. This financial burden is falling on the team themselves and the Jersey Paddle Club, who have kindly offered to help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, if for any reason we end up with excess fund we will donate these to the local RNLI.

Huge thanks in advance!
