Story

In 2014 the Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon Company came back to life, 51 years after the original company went into administration and closed down. We have been offered the original test house, behind the white locomotive in the picture, to use as a museum dedicated to the company and a workshop where our volunteers can work on restoring vehicles built on the site as well as projects to recreate prototype diesel locomotives and other rolling stock that failed to survive into preservation. We plan to work with local disabled and disadvantaged school leavers to provide work and practical experience in the museum and working on the rolling stock.

In April we were due to receive a grant that would have allowed us to sign an agreement with the owner to move the company register office back to it's spiritual home. Unfortunately Covid-19 has put that grant on hold, and possibly cancelled as the financial problems of lockdown struck. Our landlord is being very understanding, but he can't wait forever.

We are asking for your help to raise the money to secure the building and enable our work with local children to go ahead. If you want to follow the progress of the museum and our projects a donation of £10 will secure advanced membership of the support group that will be set up to oversee the operation of the company.
