The Walking Grandad - Hello, I would like to introduce you all to my Grandad - Gordon Adams- who despite his age is still an enthusiastic walker for leisure. Two or three years ago - we bought my Grandad a FitBit and ever since he has been closely monitoring how far, and how many steps he does each day. Unbeknown to his family, when Covid hit, Grandad decided that he needed to build up his immune system and announced to us, just before christmas - that he had managed to walk a staggering 4,000 miles from Jan 2021 to December 2021! This equates to 8.2 million steps! We were so proud of him when he told us and asked why he hadn‘t thought to maybe raise some money for something that meant alot to him - his response - ‘I didnt know how’ so here we are…. Grandad is a big supporter of The Friends of St Mary’s Church in Haverhill Suffolk. They are currently trying to raise money to make repairs to the Church and refurbish the washrooms. Grandad has been a bellringer at the Church since 1958 and the support and companionship that the church gives him, especially since the start of the pandemic, has been invaluable. So there you have it - The walking Grandad is going to continue his walking until the 31st January 2022 and aims to have walked 4,300 miles by the 01st Feb 2022 - when he reaches the grand young age of 88 years old.
